TESTRA®R BLASTING ABRASIVES

TESTRA®R abrasives are aggregates and consist of blast furnace slag (HOS). Blast furnace slag is a liquid rock melt of mineral origin produced during pig iron production in the blast furnace.

Chemical composition

The main constituents of TESTRA®R blasting agent are oxide compounds of lime (CaO), silica (SiO2), magnesia (MgO) and alumina (Al2O3). Free oxides are not included in TESTRA®R abrasives, as the oxidic components are present as compounds or mixed crystals.

Non-silicogenic abrasive

TESTRA®R is an abrasive based on calcium silicate. Based on DIN EN ISO 11126-6, it meets the requirements for non-silicogenic blasting media according to section 3.2 of chapter 2.24 (Blasting work) of BG regulation 500 (until January 2005: § 7 of BG regulation D26 "Blasting work") and complies with the requirements of occupational safety (IFA test certificate on the testing of blasting media for the content of silicogenic, toxic and carcinogenic components).
